Grossman served as an artist-in-residence in Petrified Forest National Park in the Fall of 2009 and 2011. Petrified Forest is harsh, colorful, vast, and a treasure trove of fossils, petroglyphs, and geologic wonders. The park does not have visitor’s lodging so it was a true privilege to live for two weeks in a historic casita on the rim of the painted desert, and I loved painting and hiking there.
